surfing hawaii - just like the pros do it

Surfing Hawaii's sunset beach is more then an adventure it is an experience. The Polynesians began the sacred ritualistic sport here more than 500 years ago.

Depending on the climate and water temperature in your area, you may need a wetsuit. The awesome power of the ocean doesn t discriminate according to experience and even small breaks can have dangerous rips and currents. Another North Shore Big Wave surf spot is Waimea Beach.

Softboards provide great buoyancy and stability for beginners, but you will probably progress to a different kind of board after you really get the basics down. Rash guard shirts were yet another great addition to a surfer s arsenal. Each variation of the surfboard was designed for particular types of waves, surfing conditions, and skill level.

Although Mavericks was named in 1961 and surfed by only a few brave surfers for many years, today it has become a popular destination for surfers who want to catch a big wave in California. Always surf with someone else.
