surfing sports are great for beginners

When paddling out to surf, you have a few different choices to make. For anyone considering taking up Surfing as their latest sport, the thought of your first day at the beach and your first attempts at catching waves can be a very intimidating thought.

Don't under estimate the kids who are most likely 8 year old to mid teens, its amazing how young these kids start surfing waves. This site/blog focuses on stand-up surfing, not body boarding. The waves that sunset beach produce can be tricky and dependant on the weather and tide conditions.

Check out the schools gear. The ideal boards to learn to surf on would be 8-9 ft, and wider than usual. If you have someone that catches the wave and kind of waits for it to pick up you will see them gain speed fast and then just launch out of the wave like a rocket.

Crowds of over 40,000 spectators gather to watch these surfers take on the cold water, unpredictable and strong current conditions of this paddle-in contest. Know when to hold onto your surfboard and when to bail out.
