It s all about conquering fear, learning water safety, expanding your ocean and wave knowledge, and returning to the true essence of surfing, fun and relaxation. It might be tempting, especially in a beachside location or if you have friends that surf, to just grab a surfboard and go for it.
That would be horrible to have to carry a piece of wood down the beach until you got to your spot and then you jump in the water and the water just water logs the wood surfboard that is the main reason why I can see why people changed the surfboard. It is from the winds fetch that waves are produced and made. Spring suits give greater freedom, as the sleeves only come down to just above the elbow.
A surf instructor is also a great networking tool. The softboards have a slick bottom which ensures maximum speed and smooth rails to ensure easy turning. When dropping in on a wave while surfing, always remember that where your head goes, your body follows.
When paddling, try and get the board planing, that is, not having the nose of your board either under water, or sticking out too far. Please, know your limits.
