surfing the net with kids - basic surfing

A crowded beach with large, aggressive waves and experienced surfers is not where you will want to attempt surfing for the first time, it will be a very daunting experience and probably discourage you. The two main components of surfing are paddling out and dropping in.

Surfboards come in a range of styles and sizes and also have different manufacturing processes. Surfing, although curtailed in the aftermath of WWII, revived as always by the 1950s. Another good reason to not go it alone initially is because surfing, like any sport, can be dangerous for the uninitiated.

Some surfers really like longboarding, while others prefer the maneuverability of a shortboard. They are light and form fitting for comfort so they don t get in the way of a surfer s performance. The longboard is the perfect board to learn to surf on, the length and width of these boards are designed to maximise stability and are easy to paddle on.

You'll need to do a lot of this later on, and it also improves your balance. You can learn to stand on a board and catch a small wave in a day, or work on form, style and ocean awareness with surfing legends over the space of several days to a week or more.
