kite surfing - these are the basics

It helps if you have friends who surf or an instructor who can lead you in the right direction for your skill level, but if you don't, you can read this easy guide on finding the right board. These are the guidelines you should always follow while surfing.

One of the best ways to jump into surfing and get your feet wet is to sign up at a local surfing school close to where you live. The awesome power of the ocean doesn t discriminate according to experience and even small breaks can have dangerous rips and currents. Always follow the rules.

Paddle into what ever you want and hang ten all the way to the beach. Created in the 70s, the fish is typically shorter and thicker than a short board and comes with a swallow tail and a larger twin fin set up. Things you will definitely need to bring are a bathing suit, sun block, a towel, and water as it is easy to get dehydrated in the sun.

The general rule is, the surfer closest to the breaking part of the wave has control of the wave. Respect the locals if you are visiting a beach.
